Behind the Label...

Artist - Victor-Raul Garcia

What can’t you live without?
My partner, our country home in upstate NY and coffee

What is your favorite colour?
Black. Until they make a darker colour.

How would you describe your style?
A combination of opposing forces- the buildup of texture and the movement of color creates a complexity of power and freedom.

What are you currently reading?
“In the Garden of Beasts” by Erik Larson. His historic novels reemphasize the fact that nothing is black and white.

Besides your art you are interested in photography, do you view this in the same way?
I do actually. In both mediums, I’m looking to capture depth, mood, a freeze-frame of movement in time, and a subliminal message.

What’s your next project that you have in the pipeline?
I have 2 group shows coming up:  one in Miami and one in Monaco.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Branching out into textiles, collage and large scale photography, continuing my evolution as a person/artist and still waking up with the person I love.
